Google index and crawl?
I submitted all my .html files to google for indexing yesterday. I understand it'll take about a week to crawl. During this time, am I allowed to edit those files since I need to update information? And by the way, what is SEO? How do I get that worked on my website? What else do I need?

Thanks for your time and help!

Best,

SEO means Search Engine Optimization
which means building your site in such a way that the search engines will index it and give it a good ranking.
Submit your url to open source directories to get indexed faster dmoz.com is a great one.
Also try this tool http://www.10yearsoftraffic.com/r/apbebiz/submit.html

Also make sure you build a sitemap and submit it to Google, and of course submit to Google's Webmaster Tools and Analytics.

Yes can can make changes any time, just rebuild your sitemap after making updates.

Social bookmarking sites are also great such as Digg, Hub pages, Delicious etc.

Above all, make sure you have good content with your keyword density 2-3%, and of course include meta tags, and meta description.

I could write a book here, there's so much to do and so many ways to optimize.

First thing dont submit all the pages to google indexer. Submiting site home page is more than enough. Google crawlers are stong enough to find out all files on your website and index it automatically. So stop it if you are doing it now.

Also you can also update your page contents any time, no need to think about search engines for that. Any ways search engine like the websites which are updated regularly.
