There are various ways to get internet, it all depends on where you live at what Internet Service Providers (ISP) offer in your region. DSL is fast internet via the phone line. You can also have cable internet, which works via your television connection. These two are the most popular fast internet solutions. You will need to modem for each. Without a modem, no internet. Your ISP will provide you with a modem. If you want to connect more than one computer or game console to your internet connection, you will need a router. A router is simply a device which splits your internet connection over various computers, game consoles, et cetera. Some modems have a build in router. Such devices are called modem/routers. If you want a wireless connection in your house as well, make sure that the router is a wireless router. So what you need to do is find ISP's which offer their services where you live, compare internet speeds and prices, make a decision and pay for your internet subscription.
