Deviantart: how do I use someone else's pixel icon as my own icon?

I recently bought an icon commission on deviantart, and I can't seem to figure out how to use it as my own avatar. Do I have to upload to my own gallery and set it as my avatar from there? Or is there a way i can set it as my avatar even if it's someone else's upload?

you have to download it to your gallery first and be sure to give props to the commissioner , or you can save it in your photos and upload it as an avatar that way.
