Help with website, domain name, seo?
Hello,
Could anyone help me sort a website for business, I have had three build by web designs and have spend hundreds of pounds for really poor results and feel ripped off, I would like to build a site myself. Building the site is the easy part but the seo seems like a bit of a mystery!! Could anyone please lend me a hand with this as I can't afford to contact another web designer.
Many thanks

Hey no worry's. this is what you do.

Step 1: you got to get the site up and running first and for most get it so that if you had visitors today there would see the site and think it was OK and somewhat professional.

Step 2: once you get the site ready for the S.E.O. part, define the niche/ or category that the site will target. This is important because if you are trying to go for bird watching and you have keyword and articles about feather down pillows it will not be very successful. (define!)

Step 3: start with the tags and description of the site at this point. If you have been specific up to this point this will actually be kinda simple all you would need is to start inserting your keywords that you are trying to rank for (niche/ category related)into your meta tags and you descriptions, and your other info into the meta area and you'll be ready for business.

lastly make sure when you are conducting business with your site that you remain focused on what its supposed to do and be about. that way when you get customers and returning people that come back that they know exactly what you are about..point is to know what you want and remain consistent with that vision and don't let poopy people get you down.

Don't know what business you are doing, there's a surprising amount of affiliate marketing done with simple wordpress blog engine based sites for which the largest overall cost is the actual content. Search ranking is influenced mainly by the amount of original content your site has, some have posts written for about $5 each.

You have to go light on backlink building until a domain is 6 months old. There is limited value in the 1000 links overnight services that use automated programs to stick spam comment links on blogs. Your ultimate ranking may be better if most links come from pages with content matching your pages' subject matter, hang around the webmaster, marketing blogs, buy a couple of seo ebooks.

One relatively safe source of paid links I was just reading about (bad ones can hurt your site) are blog networks that allow you to submit articles with links, I was just reading about these 2 services

These both charging $67/mo.

BloggingUnderground seems to be the older one with a network of privately owned blogs you manually insert posts into. one blog at a time?

SEOLinkVine is Brad Callen's new system that automatically distributes your articles to a network of individual's blogs. Presented as his solution to the slow process of getting Bloggers to pick up your articles from ezinearticles.

SEOLinkVine is being promoted in the Rankerizer free rank checker download pages.

1. Help with website. You say you want to build the website yourself. That is great and the easiest way of doing that free is Weebly. A very easy to use WYSIWYG - what you see is what you get. Lots of great features and you can have two websites for a free account. They are sub domains of Weebly but you can get your own .com from them and they will do an automatic redirect to the new .com when you decide to go that route. I have a few websites that are sub domains that are on Page 1 of Google search. You can have a blog as part of your website as well. You can set up all your site seo basics on the settings for the site.

2. Domain name. You have not provided any information on what you will be doing. The best advice is to incorporate the product or service that you provide into the website name - url. Sarahscupcakes dot com if you are doing that. The url and in particular the page title are used by search engines.

3. SEO. Part of the basics is above but once you have set your Meta description - 65 characters maximum, Meta keywords - Google do not use them but AOL, Yahoo and Bing do. Make sure that you use html for your opening paragraph, the search engines cannot read css, Make sure you use alt img tag - you can do that whenever you upload a photo to Weebly. Google's best practices say that natural content is the best way to get liked by their search engine. You can help by having the main keywords in the url, title, opening paragraph and the Meta tags and description, about 4-6% of the content should be your main keyword. Then also in the closing paragraph. Never call a "Home Page" home page use your main keyword. (your main keyword/s are what you would put into a search engine search box to find your website in the results). Internal linking structure, never say click here. Always use your keywords for the target page and link to that text.

4. Set up a Google Places listing with a link to your website there. Google prefers to show confirmed real businesses and not fly by night money grabbers. This is also the closest to a guaranteed Page 1 position on results.

5. Traffic. The easiest place to get traffic is Facebook. You can pay for adverts very cheap or just let all your friends know about your business and your post will show up on their friends pages as well. Do that every time you add content to your website which should be at least every two weeks. Every time you add a comment to your blog you can send a ping to a whole bunch of high ranking websites using Ping o matic also free. You get a rss feed from your Weebly website blog.

6. Get a mobile website as well also free.

7. Use QR codes so that mobile users just have to scan and click to get to your mobile website.

Good luck.

Sarah, SEO is not a mystery. Perhaps many people make it sound so because they want you to hire them and pay them a lot of money.

In reality, SEO can be described in a few pages, and the most concise and credible information source is Google Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide. Google it, it's in PDF and right to the point.

SEO is not easy.
at least take a look at : http://samwilson3d.com/instant-design-quote

if not, take a look at : http://samwilson3d.com/seo-tutorial

If you decide to go with this company, you won't feel ripped off. You can pay for specific result on search engines. If they don't deliver, you don't pay.
