Wireless internet connection problems?
Hey guys Im currently trying to help my little brother who has had really bad internet connection issues for the past few months. For some reason his internet will randomly become really slow for a few days and then one day it will be fast, only to suddenly become slow again. Also, he used to be able to play world of warcraft just fine with no lag at all until it randomly started to have horrific lag and disconnects. I even installed WoW on my macbook and it ran just fine on my wifi connection. He connects to our home computer with a cisco linksys wireless router and under the devices section it says 802.11 g WLAN. It also says he has 54 mbps at the moment. I apologize if I sound like a computer noob but im not very experienced when it comes to internet connectivity, especially on a pc. Any help would be appreciated thanks guys.

On my pc (yes I'm a girl and I've played wow before) I have noticed that you have less lag when you have fewer games installed on your computer. Too many files and folders along with games and internet activity can tend to slow down your computer faster then on a macbook. The cisco router doesn't have anything to do with the speed. It just simply sends the information from outside your house to inside your house where you can simply use your internet connection. The ram speed on your macbook or computer is the difference from your internet connection. If you have limewire or frostwire up and you close it down then it doesn't go away on its own, it still shows up as running, along with mostly any other program such as other games, skype, or oovoo for that fact. so to get rid of that you should hold down Ctrl, Alt, Delete - go to proccesses, go under the maximum mem usage then see what you can exit out. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. And i do not reccomend this. If you end the wrong process this may terminate your computer and have no way to start it again. so only make sure you know which process you are deleting BEFORE ending these processes. Also when you pull up this window, look at the CPU usage at the bottom of your screen. It tends to go up and down a lot depending on which windows are currently opened. Use this and see how far your networking performance is. If it goes over 50% for more then 10 seconds then end some proccesses or close out some windows. Hope this helps your internet connection speed!! (:
