google adsense: adds not appearing?

i have just been approved, and i created a new add. The first one is showing, but the second is showing a blank space on my blog..Do new adds need to be approved or is there something wrong?

I assume you are referring to 2 different ad block scripts on your page, it seems to take some time for their spiders to identify the content of your pages, and what ads best match, you may see public service messages displayed at first, if you pages have little text or any clear subject matter they may have trouble matching ads.

If you consistently have one dead ad block, reviewing the script may be in order

It takes time to show ads and also you need to get relevant ads. In these days Advertisers has became less so you might seeing PSU ads

If google does not find ads suitable to your content then they will not display ads. In settings, you have option whether you want to keep that block as blank or do you have any backup ads to display. It appears that you have opted to keep that space as blank. You can choose to display something else if google does not display ads. Make more relevant and unique content so that ads are displayed on all ad blocks.
