Can't attach small jpg?

Recently when I try to attach a small jpg to a new subject message to my group a small animated icon appears that says "attaching file" but it never stops so I cannot send the message. I have not had this problem before. I went to help which suggested the file may be too large or my internet connection is too slow but neither is the case. I have tried logging in and out and rebooting my computer but the problem continues. I use Windows XP and Mozilla Firefox and have not had this problem before. I posted a message to my group about this problem but no one has responded and other members have been attaching images to their messages. Please help.
