Can I put SEO keywords in a scrollable box at the bottom of my site?
My site need more keywords. There are one or two competitors of mine that currently have a scrollable text box at the bottom of their home page that features a few paragraphs of relevant literature full of keywords. Does anyone know if this is ok from an SEO point of view. Does google take a dim view of this sort of stuff or is it ok?

Please try and keep your answers as simple as poss guys as I know the world of SEO is EVER so complicated!.

To start with SEO is relatively simple. But to answer your question, scrollable text is not recommended from SEO point of view - it might just provide a better user experience. I would recommended that you keep major keywords in the title tag & meta description. Also, keep keyword rich content on your page, which should also be easily viewed.

Create relevant content with keywords and ensure that the sentence / paragraph makes sense and isn't spammed with keywords. The idea is: write your content as you would for a user. Google (or any other search engine), will give importance to content that makes sense.

I hope this helps. All the best.

I seriously doubt scrollable text would ever get picked up by a search engine spider
