Random people will send me friend requests on facebook?

Why do I all of a sudden get random friend requests on facebook from people I don't even know? Some local and some from different states. They are mostly men. t's quite annoying. This started recently. Every day there are new requests and I always deny them because I don't know these people. My husband has been wanting me to deactivate my facebook because he hates social media. I'm only on there for friends and family. Not to talk to strange people. I also have to block some because once I deny them they send me another request.

You can make your id friends of friends and then they cannot send your request.
