i just opened a blog today, when should i start writing posts?
i bet the search engines dont even see my blog yet. i have a main page, but that's it. my questions are:
1. should i start writing posts now, or wait a few days, or weeks? what do the search engines like better?
2. should i write only once a week at first, and later switch to every two days or so, or should i start writing every other day right now? what is better for seo?

Start writing now, why wait. And if you ever get stuck for ideas of feel you don't have time then there are low cost paid services (and not so low cost) out there that will write articles etc for you. The sooner you start writing the sooner search engines will pick you up, as far as I know. As for when to write? Up to you, daily, weekly, twice a week.....whatever you feel like.

By the way have you added Adsense or something like that to your blog, might make sense, might not, but just google "Google Adsense" and decide for yourself (and never, ever, ever click on ads on your own site/blog) Adesnse can be a revenue steam for you but for the vast majority of sites and blogs out there you'd be very lucky to get a cheque from them every few years, lol (depends on traffic to your blog/site and how many folks click on ads at your blog/site)

Start writing immediately. Once the search engines have indexed your blog and begin showing it in search results, people may be clicking through to your site and just turn around and leave right away (increasing your bounce rate and making you look irrelevant to the search engine) if nothing is there for a visitor to see.

Write for the visitors, not the search engines.

Write as often as the subject and content warrants, setting yourself a do-able schedule for posts. Don't play to what you think the search engines want. What Google in particular wants is to give the best and most relevant results to their search queries. Give that to them by writing for the visitors.
