It's messed up intentionally so that a visitor might accidentally click a link to an advertiser.

I use AdBlock so I don't see any ads. It's free.

Or, they pay their employees anyway so might as well give them something to do.

Yes, if you're using Internet Explorer. The screen jumps around while you're clicking, seemingly in RESPONSE to your mouse clicks, to force you to click on ad links when you didn't mean to.

I switched to Google Chrome and downloaded all 3 Adblockers from the Chrome Web Store.

No more screen jumping.

Yahoo Answers MUST have the ad revenue which is based on how many visit the site, not the number of clicks on the ads. If a majority of users cut back or stay away in a given time period Yahoo will quickly consider returning to the previous format.

A valid concern. Yahoo gets a fee from the advertiser based on the number of users logged in, they also get another fee for every user that goes to an advertiser from the site. The advertisers are a little slow in catching on. That is another reason that YAHOO almost never actually bans a user for even the worst violations. When they do suspend an account they make it easy to open a new one.

I'm sure that's a factor.

Did you notice that it no longer puts the name of the person asking the question once you open it?

More room for ads.

Probably.........but it doesn't quite work that way.

Advertisers pay based on the number of hits the SITE gets........

and with all the recent defections, over this new format.........the numbers can't be looking good.

But with all the die hards flooding the boards with endless drivel about the new format..........the site is still getting millions of hits anyway. ......and that's what the advertises are paying for.

The only way to get the green back, is to leave in droves........and by the time that forces a change back to the green...........everyone will have moved on by then...........and found a new site to play on.

Everyone still here, hitting the purple site up ........is basically encouraging it to stay.

Usership numbers is the only statisitic that matters here.

and I see your question, as well as Others, still get plenty of answers. So much for the massive walkout.

Looks like the purple is here to stay.
