i want to make a website and make some money also?

me and 2 of my friends have come up with making a website to have fun. we want to provide services on the website for more traffic. we dont exactly know what sort of servics to have on the website. we've discussed making a discussion forum website, or write articles, or other things. what do you recommend for us, and which will bring more traffic?
also, supposing we do get enough traffic , how could i make money from the website?
please explain in details, and thank you for your help!

rather than build from a start, consider buying an online business that the owner lost desires for or doesn't have time to manage it---there are several that could do very well with 3 people contributing to all facets

Once you create your website you can promote yourselves with facebook, twitter, myspace, etc. If that doesn't work well maybe some search engine optimization (seo) services can help you to promote with backlinks, comments and so on. This one helped me. Good luck
