I feel like posting a photo like that is just an attention seeking thing. If you truly wanted to honor someone's memory you would post pictures of the person, not the headstone.

My father died 9 years ago, and my cousin did this today, and everyone thinks i'm rude because I asked them to remove it. He has two daughters, that still feel grief. And I feel like my pain and his death isn't so you can get facebook likes.

Am I being rude?
Its not for respect. Its for attention. And likes. Everytime I log in it will slap me in the face. Its not respectful. Its disrespectful to his daughters.

Yes...you are. Your cousin was just being respectful.

Yes you are being rude. It's his Facebook so he can post what he wants! He is only doing it out of respect, you obviously have different views than him but you should keep them to yourself and not tell people what to do!

Presumably your cousin has been to visit the grave. So he thought it would be nice to post a photo of his uncle. I see nothing wrong with that. If people 'like" it, fine, but that doesn't mean he posted it ONLY to collect "like"s.
Your father's headstone is in a public place, and it is not rude or disrespectful to photograph it and show the photo to other people. On the contrary, it could show his love and respect for your father.

I'd say you over-reacted. Yes, it's your father, but your cousin is related to him too. This is not all about you.

My cousins are doing the same thing, they posted a picture of our uncle on FB, he died a year ago. Did your sister not like it too? If both of you said it, it would have been better. It is an attention thing but they must have loved him too. I would have just left it, these sort of things cause family rifts. Just think, we're not all perfect.

You are being kind of rude. You aren't the only one who lost the person and you aren't the only one who feels pain forn the loss. You don't know that your cousin is doing it just for attention and shouldn't assume that is the case.

Let's say the post is JUST FOR "likes". Your cousin is an attention whore, in that case.

Let's say the post is a memorial post to show your cousin misses their uncle. I see nothing wrong with that.

In any event, a cemetery is a public place where anyone can view all grave sites. Facebook is a very public social network where many people can communicate. Put the two together and you have everyone's business out in the open for just about anyone to see.

It may seem insensitive to you to have your father's tombstone pictured on the internet, I get that, but I don't think there was any ill intent, even if they are using the photo to gain some "likes".

It is not like they are going to win a "like" reward by the "Like Police". What if they posted a photo of your father, would that also be offensive to you? Remember, your cousin lost an uncle the same time you lost your father. My aunt and uncles are my father's siblings and they are very special people to me, so I would naturally memorialize their death, perhaps in the same way that your cousin memorialized your father.
