What is the best program for designing marketing materials?

I have a little acer astro one computer and need a program to develop marketing materials for our little thrift store. I was not able to access the previous answers, so please answer again. Any information would be helpful.

Probably some page layout program like Quark Express, here are some compared.

Unless your an artist you probably don't need a painting or line illustrating program like Adobe's Photoshop or Illustrator.

Microsoft office or the free work-alike you can download Open Office have illustration layout tools that might suffice, they may not have as much prefabricated structure as page layout tools.

I should also mention the possibility of outsourcing some of the more tricky aspects, like a logo design, online sources range from Fiverr.com where you can get work done for $5 to 99designs.com were you finance a 'design content' in which several professionals provide prototypes.
