Is it okay to be Facebook friends with someone you dated in the past?
Things were fine. We hadn't seen each other for most of the year, and hadn't spoken in 6th months. I happened to go to a pizza shop that he was having a gig at. He saw me and messaged me, we had a brief exchange, and then I decided to friend him on facebook.

But since then, I feel like a lot of my insecurities about my love life and him have come up again. I find myself hoping he'll call, that we'll actually hang out and catch up.

Should I defriend him? What can I do to truly let go of him? It seems he actually found love, and career and everything seems to be going well, and I suppose this just adds fuel to the fire that I wish I had someone in my life, and it's just not there.

In your case, no, it's not okay. You're not over it (maybe you're over him but you're not over the fact that you're no longer desired by him). Should you ever find yourself dating someone, do you think they will be okay with the fact that you dated this guy? How would you feel if your new boyfriend was friends with his exes?

Until you're no longer insecure, it's best to not have guys like that on your friend list.
