you don't - there is no feature for doing so because YA is strictly a question and answer forum - ask a question, give an answer, pick a Best Answer is you so choose

it is not a message board or chat site

you can say thank you to the best answer if you pick one

if another member has their email or IM available, you can contact them that way (you must also have yours enabled as well)

you use the Update function to add more info to your question but not to chat with those who answered as that could get you reported for a chat violation

The best way is to enable your email, but if they do not have THEIR email enabled as well, you can't.

To enable Your email

1.. Click "Answers Home" in the upper left column

2. When your YA activity profile opens up (You asl have a YAHOO profile_ Click the wrenc /spanner ( Settings)icon in the Upper right corner.

3. Scroll down to "Networks and...."

4. click the button the the left of "By email" until there is a check mark on the button.

You can also enable Yahoo messenger by clicking on that button, but there is security risk to YOU if you do that. Your Yahoo is (email address) will be displayed when people read your message.

5. VERY important. Scroll down to the bottom and click "Save."

Computers are dumb. They may auto-save stuff every so often automatically, but until and unless you TELL a computer network save something. it will N OT be saved..

Yes, You CAN use the Update function, but there is a 5 update limit.

The best way, first, enable your email.
Go to the home page
http://answers.yahoo.com/
click the wrench right side of the window. Scroll to:
Answers Community. Check as below: Can contact me via
email(Your address will remain private)
Can contact me via Yahoo Messenger
(This will make your messenger and Yahoo Id visible to
Answers community)
Click save.
Now you could click on their avatar, if they accept ims or
emails click on the appropriate one and follow the prompts.
If the question is still open you can click on the "pencil
icon on the bar below your question then "add details" to
clarify your question, unfortunately many posters never
return to see your added details so you are still best to
enable your email and try to contact them that way. You can
also comment when you choose best answer to your question
however most members who answered your question probably
won't see your comment.
