My desktop computer from 2006 operates with Windows XP. Since XP is being phased out, I want to switch to Puppy Linux. When I switch, will I still be able to do all my favorite things? Will I have trouble doing any of these things with Puppy Linux?

You can do all of those except use Notepad and Paint.net since those are Windows applications. There are countless alternative Unix text editors, though, and almost as many paint programs of varying degrees of sophistication, so technically there is no problem making the switch. Just don't count on being as productive as you were on Windows for the first couple of weeks, since obviously you'll need to become familiar with a lot of new software which does take time. It's probably best to arrange a dual-boot configuration in the first instance so if you can't figure out how to do something at first there is always the Windows system to fire up if you are completely stumped.

Notepad and Paint.NET are windows only applications. Everything else you listed is possible.

You won't need notepad or paint.net, there are better native equivalents for these programs in Linux, and much more choice, and everything is free.
