Help With Laptop Internet Connections?

I just got a laptop. The laptop i'm using now has the internet connection. On my new laptop I try to connect to the internet but it fails. What do i do? And Where do i find passwords for my connection? Step by step help?

it sounds like someone else setup (bought?) the internet connection in question?
if it is dialup get the phone number, username and password.
otherwise you should have an install disc, or can get a replacement, but you should have a record of the login details.
if the operating systems are the same there is most likely a transer option.
