Odd Craigslist reply from a David Kanpala?
I posted something on the lost and found community about 2 weeks ago and got a reply today. Initially I was happy, but googled the name just as a precaution, and came upon this warning:

Beware of emails from David Kanpala stating he found your missing pet. He told me he found my pet and that he would only give him back on one condition. When I responded that after going a google search on him (because I got a bad vibe) that I know he is a scammer who tries to get people to wire him money, he responded "u are a fool for talking to me this way...i will kill your cat just now." Needless to say don't bother with him, he doesn't have your pet... Unless your pet has a passport and/or travel connections and can readily get out of the U.S.

There were others like this posted in the St.Louis craigslist, and all within a week. What I lost wasn't a pet, but all the replies just keep getting weirder.

Did you ever get any messages from this person? Do you think this is a scam/ what is the goal of this? I didn't think the reward I offered is enough to warrant this.

Most of these "scams" are either

a) People in Nigeria
b) Computers programmed to send you messages

don't believe anything on craigslist is real unless you talk to the person over the phone, and they agree to meet in person.

Note: if you meet someone from craigslist, DO IT IN PUBLIC. There are a LOT of creeps out there.

It's a scam to get people to send him money but he doesn't have the pet. I would file a police report
