How do i sell adspace on my website?
I have a pretty large website, think it's the 11,000 biggest in the UK, which isn't brilliant, but i'd say fairly impressive, currently were making a profit but no revenue(give largely to charity) , it's a forum website, we have people who know about web admin, but nobody that knows about adspace, and banner advertising, If we could get advertising it would greatly increase out profit in some respects I imagine. In simpleton terms, i'd like to know how to sell adspace to companies, and the kind of profit i'd possibly expect, whether it's worth the hassle etc

thanks
It's a football supporters website/forum, i know who the target audience is, and what companies to probably approach, but not how to create the banners manually or how adsales works

Ask yourself one question (it's the crucial one): why would anyone want to buy adspace on your website? Unless you have compelling reasons nobody will want to know - just being the 11,000 biggest in the UK is neither nor there. Advertisers want customers and you need to convince them the people who come to your website will be the sort of people who will buy from them...

The smallest sites tend to use Google's Adsense which is very easy to setup an is not the worst paying system, in addition to BuySellAds you can review the other brokers BuyAds.com and Blogads.com, they typically charge a 25% fee, Google Adsense takes close to 50% of the ad revenue. You hve better editorial control of what ads appear on your site using ad brokers, though Adsense allows you to block undesirable sites.

Commonly when a business has success with Adsense ads that have appeared on your site they ill approach you about making direct media buys, cutting out the middleman, the simplest for being for their ad appearing for 1 month. The ad brokers save you dealing directly with advertisers.

Hi Patrick

Selling advertising space on your website/forum is a great way to generate revenue through your traffic, however as you know this is tricky. The best way is to join a banner ad network.

You could also just place a banner on you website with the words ‘Your Ad Here’. This can then have a link which would direct potential ad buyers to a sales page, where they will have options of ad size and price, and a comment box for them to place their banner link.

Alternatively you could try out one or more of the following sites, where you will have access to thousands of advertisers.

http://buysellads.com/
http://www.adsella.com/
https://www.advertisespace.com/
http://www.adclays.com/
http://www.fiverr.com
.
Hope this helps!
