Hung out with this girl I know awhile back. It wasn't really a date, just hanging out. She didn't talk a whole lot but she joked around a bit. When I dropped her off she mentioned that she was really shy and apologized for it. I gave her my number and left.

She added me on Facebook and was liking my statuses after this (I know it doesn't mean much but she hasn't used her facebook in years and social media is often used to casually convey affection, right?) However she never texted me. I stopped talking to her because I took that as a sign.

Later a friend said girls don't like it when you GIVE them your number? They prefer to be asked for theirs? Lol. I just thought it was more polite to offer my own.
So there's my pathetic cliché "Does she like me?" Question.
Was she just humoring me by being nice or something?

Ok so as you mentioned she said she was shy and afcourse she won't text you because she is shy so the least flirtiest thing she could do is to add you "which means she's thinking about you" and like your status, although she didn't open FB in years.
So congrats !! It seems like she likes you!!!!

PS. If a girl isn't interested she wouldn't joke with you or use her phone for an excuse not to talk or she will say that she has to go somewhere really important or bluntly tell you she isn't interested " which most girls won't do"
