Helpp! my internet connection is dropping and coming back :(?
I have an HP computer. Never had problems with it. And the internet connection is dropping all the time. Ive tried shutting down it over night and when i turn it back on, the internet connection only works for 5 min. I have spyware and all of that on it. I have a computer game on it that takes up alot of memory. Im wondering if thats the problem. Or if its possible it restart the WHOLE computer like refesh the whole thing. Im so confused. HELP!!!!

Are you sharing the internet connection with other folks (on a switch/router)? Are they experiencing the same problem? The next time you can't get out to the internet, unplug and re-connect the DSL or Cable modem and any equipment connected to it.

If you have a wireless connection, and there is anyone close by with a 2.4ghz protable phone, or running a microwave it can cause problems.

An internet connection that works off and on points to connectivity problems (wireless, switch, router, modem, cable/phone lines), not software problems. Games don't use memory unless they're running, they use storage space. Memory (RAM) and storage space (hard drive) are completely different, and neither would cause internet connection problems.

Someone else suggested unplugging and replugging your router/modem to see if it fixes the problem, which is the proper step to take. If that doesn't work, and if you're using an ethernet cable (not wireless), check the cable ends for bare or broken wires, loose ends, etc..

Hope that helps,
Jason
