Google Chome freezes my computer?

Whenever I open up Google Chrome, everything freezes, and the only way I can shut down the computer is to hold the power button down. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it, but it happens every time. I've been using Firefox, but that is running a little slow so I'm afraid I have a virus, I use Avast! and every time I do a scan, it says that no infected files were found. However, there are several files that can't be scanned for some reason. What should I do?

Usually chrome will work too slow and it's effects system performance too...

Once remove your extensions and unwanted software in Control panel completely and check browser performance and compare before and after.
