How do you remove facebook friends applications on your wall?

My mom is so frustrated because her wall on facebook is cluttered with notifications from her friends applications like blank needs energy or something from farmville. She wants to stop these notifications from showing on her wall. She is doing a contest for MDA a muscle dystrophy contest, and because of these notifications from her friends nobody is donating to the MDA because they can't see it! How can she remove them and just block them completely?
