Why might you ask to become Facebook friends after one date?

I had this happen to me recently and I agreed. I'm just curious what the thinking behind it is?

So in my situation - the guy asked to be Facebook friends during the date and so I added it while we were there.

You Don't ask him to become facebook friends after one date, you have to know the person a little bit more, and talk with him to see if you and him like the same stuff,
