I know who stole my iPod touch 4th gen. What should I do?
Back in May, my family and I were staying at a hotel in Romeoville, Illinois. We checked out and drove to a gas station not 5 minutes away to fill up on gas. It was during this break that I realized that my iPod touch was missing. I checked all over the car and couldn't find it, so we called the hotel and asked if an iPod had been turned in. He said that he hadn't received any missing iPod, but nonetheless, we went back to the hotel to search for it ourselves. We searched everywhere but had no luck.
A couple of days ago, I purchased a new iPod touch and signed into my iTunes account and recovered all of the apps I had previously purchased through iCloud (I think). I went to check if my pictures were still there too, but instead found 63 pictures of some woman and her family. Naturally, my heart started to race. I was looking at the woman who stole my iPod that contained hundreds of songs, pictures, videos, and access to many of my online accounts (facebook, twitter, email, etc...).
I used the facebook app on the iTouch to sign into my account, but instead was sent to the profile of Michelle *****, the same woman from the pictures on the iTouch. On her page, she listed where she works and the city where she lives. I can literally go to her and tell her to give me back my iPod!

My question, really, is how should I approach this. Should I go to her work (she's a nurse), or do I tell the police/is it worth telling them? We live in the same state, just different cities. The iPod was a graduation gift from my mom, and it cost over $250. What do I do? I think I have a good case against her. The iPod is mine, and I can prove it by signing into the iTunes account, and it cost over $250. If she says that she found it/ bought it from someone else, can I involve the police? Or can I not do anything because of that?

It's stolen merchandise costing more than $100. Since you can prove you are the original owner, inform the police and get a warrant. You can have her taken to court if she does not cooperate and I suggest you do so. If you have the original packaging or your mother has the receipt, bring those as well. People shouldn't be allowed to get away with stealing.

Confront her, demanding she gives it back. If she refuses to that stop at a local police station and ask for advice. I am sure that if it comes to it police can do something, but it is always best to confront people directly first, who knows maybe she will give it back and pay you to help make up for your troubles, just depends on what kind of person she is. But yes going to her job is the best idea for confrontation, because she can't start anything or she runs the risk of being fired.

Call the police to know more details about how she got the device.
Search some tracking apps from internet to track it down, they are very helpful in these situations.
