HELP! How can I get rid of all these unwanted ads on my facebook, yahoo, everywhere I go online!!!!!?
Our computer was fine a few days ago and then firefox was downloaded on our computer and now we have stupid ads popping up on every webpage, including facebook, yahoo, twitter, everything (and they are SOOOO ANNOYING!). I am assuming this is all because of firefox since the computer was fine before we downloaded that. I have already completely removed firefox from our computer but the ads are still up on everything! I have windows 7 and use internet explorer and really would LOVE if someone could guide me through removing all of these. We have norton anti-virus which was just uploaded the other day.. GRRR stupid ads are so annoying! Thank you to anyone who can help me!!

get ad block plus for firefox or chrome, blocks out 90% of all ads, the reason there could be many ads could be as simple as internet explorer sucking (which it have been for years)

Well you could do several things. First and easiest is to uninstall firefox. If you have windows 7 press the windows button at the bottom of your desktop and type "add or remove programs" and search for mozilla and uninstall. My guess is that you installed the recommended things but sometimes that adds some things you don't want. In addition I don't like norton. Its a terrible anti virus software. I would recommend getting "avast" which is free and better and "malwarebytes" which you can get online. I would run malewarebytes becuase my guess is you have malware. My ultamate guess to your problem is not firefox but malware from sites you go to. Internet explorer has the best protection against malware and firfox not so much. Run once done with malewarebytes remove what you find. Then run avast. That should fix the problem 90+ percent of the time. Good luck with your problem.

Browsers are doing what they are designed & configured to do automatically, which is; reach out to the 'Net and bring back all the 'assets' it encounters (including advertising), then display them.
The site you asked for has it's 'stuff', but other stuff from 3rd parties often returns without your wanting it (that's one of the 'automatic' aspects).

You'll never get satisfactory results using Internet Explorer, no matter what you 'adjust' on it.
Firefox and Chrome on the other hand can be tweaked.

The following mods help, but methods ("vectors") are dynamic, and users must stay abreast of daily threats.
FIREFOX: Tools> Options> Privacy> top drop menu set to "Firefox will use custom settings..."> Check 'Accept Cookies from sites'
â–ºUn-Check 'Accept 3rd Party cookies'.
And tick the very top box regarding "Do Not Track".

A good collection of effective add-on's (Official Mozilla) is here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/collections/d...nbarpappy/
AdBlock Plus (with 'subscription' added) & "Better Privacy" also helps defray rubbish.
►► At minimum, get the #1 item for malware prevention: "NoScript", which constrains automagically fetching & deployment of potentially tainted assets.
[Bookmark and refer to this page for how it works, and how to use it...very straight forward; http://noscript.net/features#contentblocking

CHROME> wrench icon> Preferences> Under the hood> Content settings> Cookies (heading): tick "Allow local data..." & "Ignore exceptions and block 3rd party..."> close tab.

Add-on's for Chrome:
(Here's how to get to the add-on's for Chrome:
Upper right 'wrench' icon> Tools> Extensions> (near bottom left) "Get more extensions".
This will take you to the 'store'.)

AdBlock Plus (needs 'subscription' added after install).
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search?q=ad+block
"KB SSL Enforcer" add-on: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detai...ofphddckof
►►"ScriptNo" stops all kinds of nasties and should be used by everyone. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/ScriptNo

There are privacy issues with Chrome, but that's the trade-off for it's fast and diverse extension bank.

And, get this installed: â–º"HOSTS file" (from mvps.org) which blocks evil webpage assets from re-directs which install malware or trashware. (Vista requires special instructions; on-page link)
