You can't. Followers choose to follow u . Follow some celebrities u and their fanpages might follow u or people that like that celeb too. Follow other things like news, sport, political, anything ur interested in.

HI Anthony! One thing you can do is select a twitter user who is following many people, and follow everyone they are following. A lot of people (to keep their followers) follow back, so once you follow all these people, they will most likely follow you too This is just what I did, hope I helped!

I think people ask this question a little too much and I wish more people would use yahoo answers search feature to avoid repeat questions.

Anyways...

- tweet interesting stuff, some self promotion is OK but not a whole lot

- put a link to your twitter account where relevant, such as in an email signature or on a messaging board. also putting it in different profiles and directories is helpful as well. a good one is http://wefollow.com/

- make sure your profile is complete (a photo of yourself or something cool , a little bio too so people know what you're about.) Twitter backgrounds are also a cool way to make sure your profile is complete.

I was once in the same situation as you. I simply wanted free followers....but I had next to no followers at all. Then I started research the topic on how to get them, and I got lots of different Ideas. The simple ones are changing hashtag to #teamfollowback on your bio. Another Idea that works all the time, is to simply search #teamfollowback and follow a bunch of the people that come up. You are guaranteed to get a bunch that way. Then you can use manageflitter to remove the people you follow fast. (instead of unfollowing one after another) Simply rinse and repeat! Also check out twiends and addmefast. They are social exchange websites.(follower others in return for followers)

However, there is also a lazy man's way of doing it. It's called FollowrPro. Basically, its a website that has a huge database of twitter accounts (mostly actives ones) that follow you when you submit an offer.
