How do you use Twitter?

I haven't made an account yet, but I seriously cannot understand how to use it at all!
Like I know RT means Re-tweet, and that's practically all I know. I don't even know what hashtags are/mean. Can anyone help me in helpful details and such

Its not as good as facebook. The only reason its so popular is because celebratys use it to flaunt their lifes to the world and theirfore it has had a lot of puplicity.

However I do use it sometimes to find out news.

Basically people put hashtag # then a word for instace 'cantsleep' and then if you click on the hashtag it takes you to a list of everyones tweets who have used that hashtag and 'cantsleep' lol.

People RT things I guess cause they like them just like you share things on facebook. Then it shows up on your page.

You 'follow' other people so whatever they tweet comes up on the main page. Then they can 'follow' you too.
