How long does it take to update my facebook profile?

i just created a facebook account a few hrs ago , and i filled in my interests, favorite quotes, movies, books, tv etc...... and i saved the settings... yet when my friend looks at my profile to add me as a friend it doesnt show any of my interests except for the fact that im a male... how can i change this? or does this just update in a few hrs..?

your settings may be set for private...

It depends on your privacy settings. Also if you're a minor then only limited information will show to people that aren't in your network, friend of friends or a friend. So if you recently made your account then you wouldn't be in a network and wouldn't have many friends
