Anyone knows when the facebook timeline is going to start officially for everyone?

Officially it will be compulsory on Dec 22 for everyone. Or like you said you can get it now.

Some people say December 22, but that's a wrong information, because I checked it and there is no official source for it. Apparently that false information's source is that many people activated Timeline on December the 15th, and as Facebook gives you seven days to make changes before you publish it, they received a message saying that THEIR Timeline would be implemented on December 22.

Although for the moment Facebook did not make a clear statement about the deployment of the upgrade in any of its official pages, and as a consequence there is a lot of false information going around, experienced users know that Facebook upgrades of this size are never optional.

Besides, there are clear evidences that indicate that there will be no way to go back to the old Profile. Take a look at the article in the source to see what those evidences are.

The most specific answer given so far to this is "within a few weeks" - that was from a "Facebook Spokesman" who presumably gave a press conference as "within a a few weeks" has been given now by several online and printed sources.

A few weeks would take us to the beginning of February (or if they stretched it a bit more, Valentines Day).

At the moment it is NOT cmopulsory on the 22nd - however as a lot of people opted to use it on the 15th, THEIR profile WILL be downgraded to Timeline once the seven days grace has been given to remove anything from several years worths of postings (by you AND friends). Not also that all tagged photos go public unless you have specifically said otherwise.

If you have thousands of things to check, then it is quicker to create a new FB account, post the name of it on your account each day for a week so friends can follow you to your new profile - and then close the old one. You start with a clean history and you can also let folks you no longer spend time with go "un-added" rather than the much more personal "unfriending".
