How can I convince my parents to let me have a Facebook?
A few months ago, I asked my mom about it, and she said if my step dad (who is EXTREMELY strict) says yes, then I can have one. The whole thing ended in me being grounded and balling my eyes out because my (step)dad insulted my grandfather and biological father. (it was horrible) I don't understand what the problem is. I'm not going to be on it all the time. I'm not going to add random people. I want to add my group of friends, and close family members. That's it! How can I convince them to let me have one?
Please don't say I'm selfish or spoiled or anything like that. I don't NEED a Facebook, but I would really want one.

Right first thing is that he shouldn't have even thought about insulting your grandfather and biological father, it's pathetic and just all round nasty, plus you could have a word with your mother about what he said.

An idea that you could use to get a Facebook account is to get them watch you on it for a 1 week period to see how you go on it and if you're not abusing it ( I know it seems like a pretty douchey idea but it could be the only appealing one to an adult).

Another idea is that, you could say to them, well my friends have it and I'd like to stay in touch with them if they ever leave school or move somewhere far away, I could also use it to get help on school work from my friends outside of school.

The last one I can think about is just go behind their back and make one, seriously it's the easiest option but the most dangerous, I'm not going to lie about that; a trick you can use to stop them seeing that you've been on Facebook and to not let them know you have one is, download Google Chrome and soon as you get hit Ctrl+Shift+N, this puts you in "incognito mode" and stops any web history and cookies etc.

You could also go on your Facebook and block your family members, so they don't know you have one and can't search you if they get suspicious, you can easily unblock them once you're allowed.

I hope this helps and that you can get yourself an account! Smile
