ive notice sum of tweeters use number sign b4 a name.. Example.. #planetshakers .. What does that mean?

It is a symbol used to create a search term. For instance, if you put #dog in your tweet, then "dog" becomes a search term that people can search for in Twitter, or can be notified when a new Tweet is Tweeted using that term.
