Am I being a total jerk?
Am I being a total jerk for asking some of my friends this question on Facebook?

"Is it just me or are people getting way too attached to their cellphones anymore? It seems like people can't live without their cellphones anymore, what are your opinions on cellphones? I personally don't like them and I only use mine for emergencies, I wish for once people would treasure the love and respect they get from people instead of their cellphones"

No? Unless you had previously had a conversation with a friend about how much they are on their phone, I don't see how this would make you a jerk. This reminds me of a Quote.

Albert Einstein:
“I fear the day when the technology overlaps with our humanity. The world will only have a generation of idiots.”

I would say people are WAY too into cellphones. I am 14 and I have a shitty ass phone but I don't care because all I do it text 1 person haha

People now are way too attached to their phones and other electronics. People need to learn to put their phones down and actually talk with people in person instead of texting all day long.

So no I don't think you're being a jerk

of course not, I definitely agree that people seem to have gotten way too attached to their cellphones, there still happens to be a lot of love in the air and people seem to ignore it in favor of their cruddy cellphones

I agree that some people have got way too addicted to cell phones... especially texting. It's nice to text people when it's late and you're bored (especially if you don't have a computer), but I like face-to-face communication as well.

A great example of cell phone addiction gone WAY out of control is texting and driving. It's unreal! You do NOT have to answer that damn message while you're driving! If you're the type of person that just "has" to look every time you hear that phone vibrant, then here's a tip - TURN IT ON SILENT while you drive!

I personally don't even like the idea of just talking on a cell phone while driving. It's just too much of a danger/distraction. I'd rather have both ears open, both hands on the wheel and my eyes right where they should be - on the road. I think that it needs to be a law nationwide that NO ONE is to be on their cell phone (even just talking) unless they're a passenger or it's a voice-activated/hands off system.

Cell phones are just another example of people abusing their privledges. Cell phones are wonderful and very helpful when used responsibly. They can save your life if you run into danger and are great if you're without power. Texting is a good way of communication (especially for professions/jobs that require a lot of traveling - you can just text over info/updates instead of messing with emailing), but you need to be smart. Don't do it while driving and don't be afraid to put it down and have some face-to-face chat with people too.
