if its like, @(username)

Then it means, you're telling THAT person something. Meaning its for them, whatever they're saying

and i think # is like, for websites or some stuff

I'm sure the @ sign just to show who posted the "tweet". The # sign might show a signature or nickname.

Doing an @ on twitter 'tags' a person in the tweet, so if you do @[username], the person who's username that is will be notified telling them that they've been tagged (like on Facebook)

#s are a bit more confusing. When you log in to twitter, on the right there's a column of 'trending topics'. These are the words that are most frequently being used on twitter at the moment. Originally, you had to put a # in front of a word to make it count as a trend, but now any word can trend on twitter.

Hope this helps!

a "#" goes at the beginning of a TT, or trending topic. for example, you can put #HelloYoungWorld . if you click on it, it will show you who else put that in their tweets. the TT's of the day are usually on the twitter home page. people are more likely to Retweet your tweets to their followers when you use a trending topic.

a "@" goes at the beginning of someone's twitter name when you want to specifically tweet to that person. their called replies. heres and example tweet: @Tweetheart2353 i just followed you, want to follow me back? the person you directly tweeted to will then see your tweet in their replies, and most likely respond back to you.

there is always someone's account name after the @ sign. That means, the tweet is targeted to a certain person.

the # sign refers to a well known subject or brand or object like #yahooanswers #spongebob #happiness #chalk #swiffer #cleaningsucks #running #charliesheeniswinnng haha. heres an exaple

@amylee I miss you!

I'm watching #armywives @ABC #ilovetv and my @panasonic #television

the #ilovesummer is there because it's a well known topic. many people love summer

the @aWkWaRd is reffering to someone. someone's twitter name is aWkWaRd

welcome to twitter!
