How do I talk to a guy that I like, when we've never really had a conversation before?

My best friend K is trying to get me to date her best guy friend T. T thinks I'm really pretty. And I think he's really attractive. I don't mind this, but the only problem is, K wants me to start the conversations with him, and that's kinda hard, since I don't really know him well. K tries to get T into our group to have him get use to me so that way we can just start talking and become friends and gradually become more than that. K and my other Best Friends, want me to start talking to him on Facebook. But, how do I do that? How do I start the conversation? Do I just say 'Hey' or 'Hey,(: I think you're really cute.' Which is what they want me to tell T, but I feel, if I tell him that over Facebook, I'll look creepy. So please, help?
