How Do I Generate Twitter Followers?

I would love to know all about getting followers on my Twitter profile, https://twitter.com/#!/BayernBruFC

I have read various other questions about this and keep coming across a method of using #, what is the relevance of this and how do I use it properly?

is a hash tag. When it is used every tweet with that hash tag will have it's own timeline. For example the hash tag #Ashes which is for the ashes series in cricket between England and Australia will put all tweets with #Ashes in them in the same time line. If you tweet about the ashes put #Ashes either at the start or end of your tweet (or if your tweet contains the word ashes put the hash tag there instead (ie put 'Well done in the #Ashes England', not 'Well done in the ashes England #Ashes'). If you're tweeting about a film use the hash tag #film. It works with anything.

Hash tags just make all tweets with one go in their own timeline so if you want to see tweets on a certain subject (ie films) search for #films and you'll see the tweets with the hash tag.

They can also be used to group several of your tweet together. For example if what you want to say is more than 140 characters you'll need to put it over more than 1 tweet. If they all contain the same hash tag they'll be easier to find. For example around Remembrance day I saw on the news about the muslims burning poppies and saying British troops burn in hell. When tweeting my disgust at this it went over several tweets. For these I used the hash tag #war at the end of each tweet.

In order to use them you have to follow the user called hashtags (there's a few with hash tags in the title and I didn't know which to follow so I followed them all).

Usage:
> Try not to overuse them but it's no big deal if you do (I overuse them (if you don't believe me look at my account)).
> If your tweet contains the word you will be using as a hash tag, put the hash tag as the word. Don't do your tweet including the word and then use the hash tag with the same word.
> You're probably better off putting them at the end of the tweet but it doesn't really matter too much where they go.
> Make sure the hash tag relates to your tweet.


Other ways that'll have a chance of getting more followers:
> Advertise your account on sites like this by putting a link in every question and answer. Put a link in your bio on facebook. On sites such as imdb where you can have a signature, put the link as your signature.
> Use follow friday. This is where every Friday you tweet new users you've found that week or people you enjoy reading and think others should follow. Start the tweet #ff then press enter to go to the next line and put @their username. Here's an example:

@MandyPandy32
@davidschneider

note the hash tag can be either #ff or #followfriday or you can use both.

They will see the tweet in their mentions section and might follow you.
> Follow lots of people and hope they follow back.
> Be interesting and/or humourous. If people don't enjoy your tweets they're not likely to follow you. For example don't just say I'm watching a film or I'm eating.... Tweet what you thought about the film. Tweet about politics and current events. If you see a news story tweet your opinion on it.
> If you want users to follow you do tweets like this: @theirusername Please follow me. A little desperate but it works in the same way as follow friday (they'll see it in the mentions section even if they aren't gollowing you).
