Tell your family to add you instead, or add them a few people each day. Make sure your profile picture is a good, recognizable picture of you so no one who knows you thinks you're just spamming them.

i have never heard of anything like that happening on face book
when your playing mafia wars you are encouraged to add people you do not know.
i would make a complaint
