Theres a privacy setting button on the upper right corner of your homepage. Your can do privacy settings, application settings etc.

no they cant see them, unless you have them in your profile.. AND sometimes if you use them it gets posted on your profile.. but you can just delete that post. and sometimes they send your friends a notification, but rarely
