Did this person on Facebook delete me or block me?

Ive been friends with this person for quite and while and weve been friends on facebook for a long time too but today I tried to look for him under my friends list and I coudldnt find him there so I used the facebook search engine and when I found his profile his picture was blank at it said we shared a mutual friend....

I asked him why he blocked me and he said he didnt block me he deleted his page but I kind of find that hard to beleive cause when I clicked on his profile it said "add him as a friend" or "message him". So if he deleted his page why would one of my friends still have him as a friend and why would I be able to send him a message or add him as a friend on his profille????

it sounds to me like he didnt block you, he just removed you as a friend

Seems to me like he deleted you, because if he blocked you, then he would appear invisible to you- as though he didn't exist on Facebook. If he deactivated his account, the profile photo would be blank and when you click on his name, they would tell you that the user deactivated their account and you have the option to unfriend them if you want.
