Could I get in trouble for posting this on facebook?
So, I posted this on facebook

"This 18 yr old Senior is dating my 14 yr old freshman sister. I swear, if he makes 1 wrong move. Let's just say, the internet is a good way to find out someone's address."

One of my friends told me that I could get into trouble for making a "threat", yes, that is what I mean it as, a threat, but technically all it's saying in my distaste for the relationship and that the internet can tell me people's addresses.
I'm 17 and a Junior in highschool. We go to different highschools as well.
Dear Colinc, you and your no life, 42,000 answers can just leave. I am not controlling the relationship nor being a monster about it. I am allowed to have an opinion and a distaste for the relationship if I want. I am not even trying to talk to her to change her mind. So please, go f*** off somewhere else. Thank you Smile

You didn't name him so it isn't specific enough. And a threat in and of itself isn't necessarily a terroristic threat.

Yepp... you can get in trouble for threatening someone... But it's even worse for an 18 year old to date a 14 year old, so who knows? this isn't a big deal

While this post is threatening and may be against facebook's terms of use, it would not be considered illegal. Smile

However, if he were to engage in any kind of sexual conduct with your sister, that is illegal. Smile

You are an idiot. That could put you in prison. In any case there is no law to prevent them dating. There are laws preventing certain aspects of the relationship. But it is NOT your place to stop them dating. She has her own mind so stop being a controlling manipulative monster and grow up.

No you will not be in trouble for letting people know about whats going on but if someone calls police then you will probably be asked why you didnt contact police as soon as you knew about it and to be honest i would have called police if that were my sister because i know that an 18 year old is only going to be with a 14 year old for her virginity and isn't interested in a serious committment with her ....my advice to you would be to put the phone down or get off the computer and tell your parents because after she is to young to be out there dating an 18 year old and having sex .

Yes you may get into trouble and be procecuted under the telecommunications act, be very careful how you word things, even if you dont make an actual threat online, if the person that its aimed at tells the police that they feel threatened by it, you could still be in hot water.
