Facebook won't let me check in. Anyone else have this problem?

I want to check in at home. I've seen other people do it and they just make up a name like "The Smith House" and add it to locations. Then when they want to check in again "The Smith House" is already on their nearby locations. I know how to do it (or at least I thought I did) but every time I try it goes through like it's going to post it but it never shows up on my timeline. Is there some trick to this that I don't know about?

Do you mean you want it to be put beside the check mark location thing? Below the status? But instead it comes up like " Hi my name is - At home" If it's like that then just click the " - At home" part and press delete.. the location beside the check point will stay. I do it all the time..if that's what you are referring to.
