I met a guy on Facebook, does he like me?

I added someone on Facebook who knows my best friend. We talk a lot and he's really nice and he says he likes me. But on his facebook wall he has like a mob of exgirlfriends calling him a cheater and saying how he dates everyone he meets. So I'm like WTF now. I like him, even though I never really met him. But seriously we talk and text all the time. Should I bother talking to him anymore, if he's just a desperate player...?
