Why do random people follow you on Twitter?

How do you get more followers on Twitter Quicker!? I've only got 66 yet and I'm sure I've been on it for a few months now!? I don't have any of my friends on it, I just have random people and companies on it! I use facebook to keep up with my own personal friends!
I would like to have at least like over a 1,000 followers, I checked my bosses twitter and he has something like 2,000 or more followers!

follow 10 people a day in the hope that they will follow you back.
Talk about interesting relevant stuff. Information is what people crave.
Follow people that will follow you back.
Maybe put a status on your twitter saying that you follow back.
Tell your facebook buddies you are on twitter!
Also leave your twitter name at the bottom of emails on forums ect
If you use Youtube leave your twitter people will follow
sooner or later with this method your followers will rise

Follow a bunch of people and tweet them saying "Follow back?"
Put "I Follow back" in your bio.
Change your name to something people like, like Beliebers will automatically follow you back if you have Bieber as your icon or a Bieber related name.
