Why do people seem to use Facebook less and less?
The other day was my birthday and I got 13 "Happy Birthday" messages with 8 from family and good friends. Two years ago I had 36 with 11 from family and good friends. Its not that I am less popular I assume, but simply that for one my birthday was on a Saturday 2 years ago and more people were on Facebook, but also it is used less I assume. Why is it used less or is it that I am 2 years older (27) and so my age group is now having kids and spouses and has less time.
Is Facebook actually being used less? I dread the day we have to subscribe to use Facebook and pay money but I fear it is about 3 or 4 years away.

I think it's due to most people being overwhelmed by FB.

I only add close friends and family, and I fretted when my friends list went over 50 people (it's about 55 now).

A lot of people will have hundreds of Facebook friends. When you have hundreds of "friends" it is easy to lose track of all that information. It is easy to get overwhelmed and just not care about it anymore, so you quit checking.

I mean, if you have 400 friends that's more than a birthday per day. It's easy to get burned out from having to wish so many people a happy birthday, so they just quit doing it altogether.
