Problems with facebook heeeeelp?

When I like some pic or comment, my friends can see it on their news feed. Like Fifo like a picture, or Fifo commented on a picture. I dont want them to know what I do on facebook. So is there way I can hide such activity or something
Why can they see it ??? All what I comment on I wana keep private and not appear on their News feed wall
