Because they have to make money somehow, otherwise the tech support cannot function. They don't want to charge people, so in order to remain a free site, Facebook sells ads to companies. The company pays Facebook to post the ads, because EVERYONE pretty much goes on facebook. That is one of the reasons the inventor of facebook is a facking billionaire
