Twitter Followers Help?

Hi :-)
So I've got a simple question/ self promotion:
I'm really am trying to get more followers on Twitter (I'm an amateur Figure Skater just trying to get my name out/ trying to make a dream happen) & yahoo answers is always a good place to go, so if you have any recommendations for me to receive more followers it would be much appreciated!
