My eyesight is getting worse and I don't know what to do!?
I am losing my eyesight solely because of the mass amount of time I spend on my iphone/computer every day. I wake up: play apps, go on youtube, facebook (It's convenient because my charger is next to my bed)
I text throughout the day, and play apps a lot.
I come home from school and check facebook... etc etc
Before I sleep I watch Youtube for like an hour.
I know I'm like addicted or something and my eyesight used to be perfect. 20/20 from 1997 to 2011. This year I've been having trouble seeing the board, reading, even seeing faces from far away. This all happened very suddenly. And my eyes get extremely dry, when the air conditioner is on my eyes burn.
Is there anything I can do to help? I know I should spend less time on my iphone but I can't stop.

I don't want to wear glasses because I heard they just make your eyes worse over time. Is there ANYTHING that will help?

You're not losing your eyesight because of your iphone/computer use. There's 0 research that I've ever seen that has linked any type of activity to progressively poorer eyesight. More than likely you're getting older. It happens, it sucks, and everyone deals with it. I asked my optometrist about this once, and she told me that between your toddler years and late 20's, your eyesight changes a lot. From then on, it'll change more slowly, but still continue to worsen (Again, it's part of aging).

Either way, you'll want to go get an eye checkup (and they'll be able to explain your misconceptions better than I). Honestly, though, you should be going anyway, especially if you're having other issues, such as dry eyes. Realize, though, that keeping your eyes open for extended periods of time (people tend to blink less when on the computer, texting, etc), your eyes will get dry. When the air conditioner is on, cold air tends to be dry, so that will only make it worse.

As far as glasses go, don't believe the nonsense your friends are telling you. Glasses don't make your eyes get worse over time. Your eyes will progressively get worse, regardless (even if you have perfect vision), and hence, you'll eventually have to get stronger glasses. Some people go through most of their life with good vision, but eventually, everyone will have problems. However, that is again aging, and has nothing to do with the glasses.

You need a 10 or 15 minute break every hour or so to avoid getting CVS as in http://au.search.yahoo.com/search?p=%22c...fr=ush-ans

Computer vision syndrome (CVS) is a temporary condition resulting from focusing the eyes on a computer display for protracted, uninterrupted periods of time.

Try to do some exercises to relax your eye muscles. As we know, we use our eyes for around 12 hours a day. That alone is a great reason for your eyes to need exercises. You can try these 2 methods:

1) Blinking – one of the most overlooked eye exercises there is. There is no wonder about that because people blink most of the time. It’s natural as breathing. However, when blinking is done deliberately for eye improvement purposes, the result is GREAT... So get your watch, time yourself for two minutes, and start doing this.
Blink your eyes every 2 to 3 seconds. People who sit in front of computers, televisions or playing with phones for a long time tend to blink less frequently. Blinking relaxes and refreshes your eyes. Blink, blink, blink and feel the difference … Keep repeating it until the 2 minutes is up.

2) Palming – to release stress which is a factor of vision problems of the eye. First, take a deep breath, make yourself comfortable and close your eyes. Cup your eyes with your palms with your fingers on your forehead and the heel of your hands on your cheeks. Be sure that you could still blink though. Do this for a few minutes, you should be good … Smile

I really recommend you to read further about Dr. Duke Peterson’s course. He has been practicing his method for years and help hundreds of people overcome their eyesight problems …
