Should I make a facebook account?

I am a previous facebook user who quit since 2008 because of a personal trauma.

It's now 2012, and a lot of people have been pushing me to get back on FB, especially my bf.

I still feel on the fence about it because:

a) I'm a private person. I value my privacy and anonymity.
b) I don't want people to tag pictures of me and showing them to people.
c) I don't really feel connected with people using fb.

Should I get back? If so why?
My bf uses FB alot and talks about what happens there often. He's always been wanting me to get back on FB but I hesitate. I'm mainly interested in getting FB bc:

a) using it as business for connections/advertising myself.
b) to shut my bf up.
